Cement and Pavement
The foster mom noticed some scabbed spots on the kittens and initial testing was done to determine the cause of the scabs. It was a real concern that the spots could be caused by a fungal infection called ringworm. This fungal infection had been present in another litter that had been at the shelter and that litter was being treated. Ringworm is highly contagious in animals and can be transmitted easily to humans when handling an infected animal. Since initial testing was inclusive, it was agreed that more complete testing would be done at the vet. The Heroes non-profit provided the funding for this additional testing.
Thankfully the tests came back negative and it was felt the cause of the scabs came from some rough play on the part of the two kitties. It was a great relief that Cement and Pavement could now be adopted into their forever home, knowing they were leaving their foster home with a clean bill of health.
